Freshman Year Navigators

Freshman Year Navigators

Freshman Year Navigators are MSU students who work for The Office of Student Success. Each Navigator is assigned a group of incoming freshmen each fall and works throughout the academic year to help those freshmen navigate through their first year.  Navigators email their assigned students, call them, text them, meet with them face-to-face, and work throughout the year to help their assigned freshmen succeed in school, answering questions and finding resources.

Navigators meet with the Office of Student Success weekly.  They maintain office hours in the Navigator office, providing times for face-to-face meetings with their students.

Navigators assist with the True Maroon courses in the fall, and Freshman Success Strategies course in the spring by helping with logistics, student support, and leading several of the class meetings.

Students can find out who their navigator is by going to freshman.msstate.edu and choosing the “Who’s my Navigator?” option on the far right side of the screen.
